BM TRADA has released the dates for its series of regional timber frame seminars aimed at architects and engineers as part of its CPD (Continuing Professional Development) contract for the UK’s wood promotion campaign, Wood for Good.
There are four regional seminars taking place in London, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester (dates and locations below). The events are half-day sessions, focusing on issues related to timber frame and are specifically targeted at decision makers in housing associations, contractors and house builders.
Delivered by BM TRADA’s frameCHECK team, the events will focus on the benefits of constructing using timber frame (speed and ease of construction, environmental); the history for timber frame; and sources of timber products used for construction.
In addition, delegates will learn about techniques of construction including solid wood (eg cross-laminated timber); acceptance by insurers and warranty providers; the range of timber frame buildings that can be constructed; and maintenance issues and costs for constructing and achieving a quality build.
Dates are as follows: 25th November, The Wesley, London; 4th December, Holiday Inn Express, Birmingham; 25th February, Aztec Hotel & Spa, Bristol; 24 March, Thistle Hotel, Manchester.
The Wood for Good campaign works on behalf of the whole timber industry in the UK. It aims to promote the suitability and sustainability of wood as a building material to the construction and logistics sectors and associated professionals such as architects and design engineers.
The training will include up-to-date case studies and as well as addressing concerns previously expressed by professionals about the use of wood for specific applications.
